The residents have learned the importance of staying inside at night and have adapted with various survival tactics.

  • The creatures have eerily human-like qualities but are vicious and unpredictable. The residents have learned not to look them in the eye or try to confront them, but there are still those who try to fight back and confront the terrifying beings, with varying degrees of success.

3. The Matthews Family

  • Jim Matthews (played by Eion Bailey) is the father of the Matthews family. He, his wife Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno), and their children Julie and Ethan end up in Bridgeville after a car accident, similar to the other residents. The Matthews family, like everyone else, is shocked to find themselves trapped in this eerie town, cut off from the outside world.

  • Jim and Tabitha struggle to understand how they ended up in the town, and they quickly realize they need to find a way to survive and escape. They meet other residents who have managed to carve out some semblance of normal life, though it is clear that no one truly understands the origin of their confinement or how to break free.

4. Boyd Stevens

  • Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) is one of the central characters of the show. He is a retired U.S. Army veteran and the town's sheriff. Boyd is a pragmatic and resourceful leader who has survived in Bridgeville for years. He has seen the worst the town has to offer and is one of the few who understands the complexities of survival within the confines of the town.

  • Boyd’s leadership is crucial in organizing the other residents and keeping them alive, especially during the dangerous nights.   • As the story progresses, Jim, Tabitha, and the other residents begin to seek out answers. They form alliances and attempt escape plans, but each time, they are confronted by the inescapable nature of the town. Jim and his family’s quest for an answer becomes a central plot point, as they try to find a way to escape or at least understand the rules of the town.
